Board of Directors: To Be or Not to Be is Not the Question
W3W3 Media Network | 05.19.2008
"CEO's without a board are missing so much value," states Sue Kunz, CEO/Founder of Solidware Technologies. "Just like building a good team, first look at your own skill sets and identify the gaps that you have and what you need in building a business. Then strategically look for folks who can fill those gaps." Sue pointed out that a board is not just active at the board meeting. She looks to her board for dialog, sometimes weekly. When asked if there was a 'downside' to having a board, Sue said, "It's a lot of work. With these top notch people you don't want to waste their time." The average car has 35 million lines of code in it, with 100+ million lines of code in a high-end car. Really good code has one error for every thousand lines of code. Do the math and you might feel very nervous about how you are getting to work, points out Susan Kunz, CEO and Founder of Solidware Technologies. Today’s software development teams face twin dilemmas of exponentially increasing complexity and scale. It is more important than ever that developers deliver the right code the first time and that's what Susan says is 'time to money'. Forget Time-to-Market: It's All About Time-to-Money
SD Times | 08.18.2006
The popular business school metric time-to-market is of little value to software development projects. And, even worse, it consistently offers incentives for counterproductive economic behavior.
